In Search of Reality

If you have ever been to a magic show or watched an illunsionist perform, you were probably left with the thought, can that be real. Many times we can’t trust what our eyes see nor can we always rely on what we hear. So how can we be certain what is reality and what is not? When it comes to biblical truth and reality we receive it by faith. Our believing must be filtered through God’s Word. We have a series called “In Search of Reality” on our media page that i encourage you to take some time and listen to each message. The series goes into great detail concerning spiritual reality. Once you do leave me a comment.

Jesus: Our Lord, Our Substitute, Our Prototype

We Celebrated Resurrection Sunday yesterday. What a wonderful day to celebrate. We celebrate the fact that Jesus is our Lord and Savior and is risen from the dead. As we celebrate His resurrection it is important to recognize that He by grace was and is our substitute, the one who took our place and paid the penalty for our sin. As the Substitute He tasted death and went to hell in our place (see Heb 2:9, Rom 5:6-8, Acts 2:27-30). He is also our prototype, the first one born from the dead (see 1 Pet 3:18, Col 1:18, Acts 2:24) and is seated in heavenly places (see Heb 10:10-14, Eph 2:6). As the Prototype He is our example of one who operated under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. So when the Holy Spirit is received we have the opportunity to live as Jesus lived above the challenges and battle of life. Remember Jesus said in  John 14:12 (NKJV)
12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” Under the anointing of the Holy Spirit we can do what Jesus did when He walked on planet earth.  To see the entire message of Resurrection Sunday click on the media button and click of the Message “Jesus: Our Substitute , Our Prototype.Remember, it’s the truth you know and walk in that sets you free.

If you want different results

As we approach the end of 2022. It is a great time to reflect on this past year. If you are satisfied with where you are and how your year turned out then great. However, if you wanted different results then now is the time to make some changes before the new year begins. To make changes you must first began to speak in line with God’s word about your life. That will result in changing your thinking. A change in your thought life will affect your choices and in turn affect your decisions and actions. When you do things differently for the positive then you will have different results.

Remember it’s the truth you know and walk in that sets you free.

33rd Anniversary Celebration

On September 11, 2022 Living Glory Church celebrated it’s 33rd Anniversary as a church. The Lord has been faithful through the good, bad and ugly times over the past 33 years. Here’s a recap of the message ministered by Pastor Carl Benton.

Anniversary is a time to:

I.     Reflect on the history of LGC.  We reflect on the facilities and the path that lead to where we are now. We reflect on the thousands of people who make LGC what is was and what it is presently. We have family all over the world.

2.    Re-fire, stir up the gift of God again. Over the years we can become crusted over with the ashes of burn out and the continuous ministry energy expended. So we do as the Apostle Paul recommends to his spiritual son Timothy, “Stir up the gift of God that is in you.

3.    Re-Focus on the vision of LGC:  Our mission statement is simple: Touching Hearts, Healing Lives, Restoring Hope. We accomplish this by following 4 core values in every decision. We help people Know God, Find Freedom, Discover Purpose, Make a Difference in their world.

4.    Reach Forward to the prize of the high calling of God.

As long as there are unsaved, hurting, sick, rejected people the church has a job to do. The Great Commission does not have an expiration date. So we have work to do.

Handling the Pressures of Life

Ps 143:3-4  “For the enemy has persecuted my soul; He has crushed my life to the ground; he has made me dwell in darkness, Like those who have been long dead. Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me; My heart within me is distressed.”

Sometimes our lives and days can seem just like King David because of the pressures we encounter on a daily basis. Jesus said in John 16:33 that we could have tribulations, however, He also said to be of good cheer for He overcame all the pressures of the world.

I want to give you three things you can do to put pressure against the pressure’s of life.

I.  Press into: God’s presence through praise, worship and prayer :  into His Word; Into His Name

2.  Press on:   In Faith, in Praise.

3.  Press through:  Fear, Depression/Anxiety/ and the lies of Satan

Be Bless today.  Remember it is the truth you know and walk in that sets you free.  Pastor Carl Benton

Re-Discovering Pentecost

Hello and welcome to LGC post. On the church calendar June 5 is Pentecost Sunday. For many non-denominational churches that day doesn’t have much significance and sometimes goes unnoticed or uncelebrated. When we fail to recognize the importance of that event we minimize the importance of the Holy Spirit in our lives and the life of the church. Remember on Pentecost the Holy Spirit fell upon those in the upper room and they were began to speak with other tongues. More importantly they received what was promised by God. Jesus, said they would receive power to be witnesses in Acts 1:8.

The subject requires more room then a simple post can expound upon. However, both Pastor B and I have messages on this website that goes into more detail. Go to the Media button and click the Watch Services link for the Re-Discovering Pentecost messages. We will also be continuing the series on May 29 and then inviting people to be Baptised in the Holy Spirit on June 5 at our 10:00 AM service.

Honoring Mother

On May 8, 2022 we celebrate Mother’s Day in the United States. It is a day set aside to honor our mothers. I want to share a few thoughts with you on how we can and should love and honor our mothers. There are five basic was we can honor them. Remember to honor is to place a high value on someone or something. We honor them VERBALLY. When we dialogue and communicate with them we honor them. When we listen to her heart and concerns we honor her. Remember she listened to you when no one else cared enough to. Understanding where she is coming from honors her. Secondly we honor PHYSICALLY, don’t underestimate the power of a simple touch. Every human being needs to be touched and hugged. Be generous with the expression of her love language. Be attentive and locate how she receives love and do it often and lavishly. Whether it is, words of affirmation, gifts, acts of service, quality time of a touch, be generous. Third, Be patient. In a fast paced world she may be slow to catch on to new technology and feels like life is leaving her behind. Slow down and be kind. Fourth, show gratefulness for all she has done for you. You will never be able to repay her for all she did as you were growing up. Should there be any issues between you two then forgiveness is in order. We may not know the hurts and struggles our mom were experiencing at that time in our lives. Fifth, be prayerful.  Pray for her spiritual, physical and emotional health. Remember in Exodus 20:12 we are given a command to honor our parents. It is the only commandment with a build in blessing attached. Long Life.

Stone that speaks

In the bible that are several places where inanimate objects like trees, stones, pastures take on human characteristics. They might clap their hands, sing praise, leap for joy and the like. Today I want to tell you about a stone that speaks. It’s the stone that closed the tomb of Jesus. You see before the resurrection that stone spoke to the world that the tomb is sealed and the grave is secure. It also said it is a memorial stone as a reminder of someone that once was alive but is now dead. It reminds us of humanities mortality and that dead is final and the grave is the final resting place for us.

However, once the power of the Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the dead that stone began to sing a different song. From then on it sings that the power of the grave has no effect on the child of God.  It shouts that death no longer has a sting and has been defeated.  It proclaims that the body of Jesus so no corruption and there is new life in Christ.

Hallelujah, all we have to do is acknowledge that Jesus died for the forgiveness of our sins and was raised up by the power of the Holy Spirit and sits at the right hand of God almighty. By making this confession we become children of God and the power of the grace has been nullified, death has been defeated and there is New Life in Christ for us.

Resurrection

On April 17 the Christian World celebrates the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. The scriptures tell us that the apostles, and then 500 believers saw Jesus in the flesh after the resurrection. Certainly we must believe this by faith. When we do believe, the resurrection has an impact on our lives.

Palm Sunday

This weekend April 10 we as Christians we celebrate Palm Sunday. This is the triumphant entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem. The crowd was so excited that Jesus was entering Jerusalem on a donkey. This symbolized the entrance of a conquering King after a military victory. What they thought was that Jesus was about to take his place in the King’s palace and destroy the Roman occupation of Israel and Jerusalem.  There cheers became jeers when they realized that he was not what they thought he was.

In actuality, Jesus was entering triumphantly as a conquering King. His reign was not in the natural kingdom but in a spiritual kingdom. His final victory was yet to come one week later. He defeated the powers of darkness, death and Satan himself.

This Sunday attend a church and celebrate the triumphant entry of Jesus into your life as He has defeated the same powers of darkness, death and Satan in your life. All you need to do is believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is your Lord and you enter that spiritual realm called the Kingdom of Heaven.

Then next Sunday April 17 we celebrate Jesus and our ultimate victory. Resurrection

Remember it’s the truth you know and walk in that sets you free.
